Sharon Cook beloved daughter of Reginald and Linda Cook Sharon Cook was born in Dudley
Road Hospital on the 30th July 1973, but sadly died of Hydrocephalus.

At six weeks old Sharon had an operation at Dudley Road Hospital, the operation was to put a valve
from the head to the heart so the heart could pump away the fluid. The operation took four hours
which at the time seemed never ending but went successfully "thank God".

Everything went fine for about three months until Sharon had a fit, she went all floppy and
lifeless. Reg and I rushed up to Dudley Road Hospital by the time we reached the hospital she had
began coming out of the fit, Dudley Road kept her in just incase this kept happening, they would
unblock the valve and she would come out after two days.

On the 17th November she had her last fit we were visiting my sisters in Tamworth when she started
fitting, we rushed to Dudley Road but I knew this was different her little face had a different
expression. By the time we arrived at the hospital she came out the fit, they kept her in again so
we stayed with her until she fell a sleep. The next day she was her happy little self and the
hospital said she could go home tomorrow .
I went to pick Sharon up from the hospital at 0900am the following day, I walked in to find her cot
empty. I asked a nurse "where Sharon was" when I was told she was in intensive care, I passed out
hitting the ground in shock, I was brought round with smelling salts to face the horror. Then I was
taken into see a doctor who then told me there was no hope and could they use her organs for
donation, I said she'd been through enough but this is something I do regret now as i wasn't strong
enough at the time to help others . Then Reg arrived who had been fetched out of work by the police,
they took us in to see Sharon to find wires and tubes all over her seeing the machines on her still
gives me nightmares today.

On the 21st November at 2am we were holding her hand and the machine stopped and there was a loud
bleeping noise, nurses and doctors came from everywhere but we were told everything was fine but we
knew it wasn't but didn't want to face it. In the morning they told us to go home so we could have a
shower and something to eat reluctantly we went home, Reg phoned when we got back to his Nans and
thats when we were told that our baby had died our lifes have never been the same since and never
will be. Sharon was laid to rest in Witton cemetery near a lovely weeping willow tree.

Sharon was the most pleasant little girl she was always smiling I can't remember her ever crying.
She loved dancing in her walker to Top Of The Pops she had two budgies called Peter and Joe which
died the same day she did, I would like to think she took them with her, she loved birds, even wild
birds.

We would feed the wild birds on the window ledge, they would come that close to her she could touch
them, Sharon would look back at me with her little finger on her lips as if to say, "mommy be quiet"
she was so gentle and loving she would just look with her little nose resting on the window ledge
with a smile that would melt your heart. "We will never get over losing you sweetheart no matter how
long its been".

Sharon fell a sleep on the 21st November 1974 at 15 months old. and now has three sisters and a
brother who never had the pleasure of meeting her, June, Jimmy, Jane and Hayleigh but did visit her
grave with us every week .


This is on Sharons head stone, A tiny flower lent not given to bud on earth and bloom in heaven.
